Year 13 student Lotti B-T (17), has won the prestigious Young Geographers Photography Competition, run by the University of Birmingham.

Lottie entered her photograph of a tractor ploughing, with a seagull suspended behind, into this year’s competition called ‘Geography on My Doorstep’.

She entitled her photo ‘Fight or Flight’, referring both to the seagulls in the photo and the then upcoming European Referendum, and wrote a short passage considering the possible negative impacts of Brexit on the farming community.

She said of winning, “It was a very pleasant surprise!”.

Her photograph will be exhibited in the University for the next year.
