In September, the school hosted the first round of the National School Games cross-country competition, for local primary school children in years three and four.  Colyton’s Year 12 Sports Leaders hosted the event alongside sports coordinator Mrs Harris, for 150 children from All Saints, Beer, Kilmington, Shute, Seaton and St. Mary’s primary schools.

Despite the miserable weather, the event went ahead and the children did superbly. After playing some warm-up games the children all completed the race ( 2½ laps of the football field).  “I think all the children really enjoyed the activities that the Sports Leaders helped them with, as well as the opportunity to race in a fun and competitive environment”, said sports leader Max Robertson (16).  “The sports leaders also had a lot of fun delivering the activities and watching the children enjoy themselves and improve their skills”, he added.

The winners in a very tight race were, for the boys, Seaton and All Saints; and for the Girls, Kilmington and Beer. All four qualify for the East Devon Round at Bicton College on Friday 4 November.

We wish them the best of luck!
