At the end of the summer term, sixth form students Megan T, Millie D and Divya S attended the prestigious Ways with Words Festival at Dartington Hall, after earning places on the Festival’s bursary scheme.

Ways with Words is a “festival of words and ideas”, in which delegates attend lectures by national figures such as Professor Alice Roberts; former Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone; Professor Marcus Du Sautoy; former Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, Lord Hattersley; Jonathan Dimbleby; and former Business Minister Sir Vince Cable.

Subjects ranged from Shakespeare to humanitarianism to chaos theory.

Megan, Millie, and Divya were granted full scholarships to attend all ten days of the festival after sending in applications detailing their interests and their hopes for the future.

Millie said: “It was a great experience; I learnt so much and it was a fantastic opportunity to meet such highly regarded people.”
