Year 13 student Rosie L (17), has had an exciting trip to Scotland to take part in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, as part of the prestigious South West Camerata String Orchestra.

The orchestra is a string ensemble formed from exceptional young Devon musicians. With the West Sussex Gifted and Talented String Academy, and directed by Colyton music teacher Mrs Lester, the orchestra played Glazunov’s Saxophone Concerto in St Giles’ Cathedral.

Later in the day, both orchestras performed together informally on the festival’s Mercat Stage, which is situated along Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.

Rosie said that, “It was a daunting proposal when I was first asked to learn the concerto, but it was very rewarding and I am very glad that I did it.”
