At the end of this academic year, Colyton Grammar School will be saying goodbye to one of the longest-standing members of its teaching staff, Mrs. Nicci Humphries.
Nicci has taught Physical Education at the school for 33 years, seeing the school expand from the 350 pupils to over 800 and growing.
Her familiar voice has encouraged thousands of girls and boys over the years to excel in sports lessons.
Mrs. Humphries has always given enormous commitment in terms of extra-curricular activities in the school. Her many successes include regional and national triumphs for students in netball and tennis. She will continue to be involved with netball in retirement.
Starting as Head of Girls PE at the school, Nicci has maintained huge levels of commitment despite being part-time for a number of years.
Her favourite memories from her time at Colyton were probably the legendary ‘ski trips’ to Europe and the USA. “Seeing everyone in a different light, having fun and exploring new places,” were the highlights of these brilliantly organised activities.
“I’ve really enjoyed my time here, and I will miss everyone!” she added.
“Nicci has been an absolute star in the school for many years,” said Mr Richard Bush, Assistant Headteacher. “I was lucky enough to go on three ski trips and they were truly memorable in all sorts of ways.”
“Nicci is a truly dedicated professional and we wish her the very best of retirements!” he added.
