Two teams of Colyton students have recently attended the local final of the English Speaking Union’s ‘Churchill National Public Speaking Competition for Schools’ at Blundell’s School in Tiverton.
The teams competed against the hosts and St James School of Exeter, but narrowly missed out on progressing to the regional final.
However, Team 2 Questioner Charlie Kendall received the award for ‘Best Questioner’.
Charlie said: “It was an interesting competition with a series of fascinating speeches.”
The ESU works principally with the young to build skills and experience aimed at helping them to realise their full potential.
