Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Tim Harris as the new Headteacher of Colyton Grammar School. He will succeed Mrs Jayne Wainwright from September 2016.
In this round the school received 19 applications (nearly 5 times the national average for a headteacher post), and 5 extremely strong candidates were shortlisted for interview. We are very fortunate to have had such an impressive field, and to have secured Tim Harris as our new head.
“Since 2013 I have been Deputy Headteacher at Reading School, a boys’ selective school in Berkshire, where I teach History. I have previously held a range of posts in non-selective schools in the Berkshire area.
Since joining Reading School, I have led on curriculum review and development, and in promoting a more inclusive admissions arrangement promoting social mobility. This has included specific work with the primary schools in Reading and the introduction of a new Year 7 entrance test.
I was awarded my National Professional Qualification for Headship in 2014 having studied at the Universities of Newcastle and Sussex for my History degree and PGCE.
I am delighted to be appointed the Headteacher of Colyton Grammar School and relish the opportunity of leading an outstanding community of students and staff.
Together with my wife and young son we are extremely excited about the prospect of living in such a happy and vibrant community.”
Tim will liaise closely with Jayne Wainwright, the Senior Leadership Team and the governing body over the next 10 months to ensure a smooth transition. His headship will mark a new phase in the school’s development, and governors very much look forward to working with him in order to continue achieving the very best for Colyton students.
Governors are also extremely grateful to Jayne for her continuing leadership of the school in the meantime.
